Elger Esser. Die engen Wasser: Haus Beda, Bitburg
For the exhibition in Bitburg, Elger Esser focuses on the Loire and its tributaries, the Marne and, above all, the Èvre: in these new photographs, he follows the literary footsteps of French writer Julien Gracq (1910–2007). In his book Les Eaux étroites (The Narrow Waters), Gracq describes the river landscape of the Èvre, which stretches for almost 100 kilometers, in sensual literary sketches. Esser's photographs of the Èvre are thus both a photographic and literary search for traces and a homage to the renowned writer and the dreamy river landscape.
