Jānis Avotiņš: You, my word, as if it was me before a dark glade
“Every word comes in the beginning from something we accept. So I do not choose this time abstraction but precise my story tellers. I speak through them as to describe my relations. It is not about universal relations, rather the personal, marginal ones as a realistic possibility to describe the process of being. I could call it my reflections on my teachers (as persons, places and situations)”. JĀNIS AVOTIŅŠ
In the recent work of Jānis Avotiņšpersons and places seem more documentary, showing a more personal aspect from the artist. The “time-place-persons” in these paintings are placed in more exact situations and contexts, but still in the typical existential, romantic and poetic atmosphere.
