To mark the 80th birthday of Munich collector and publisher Lothar Schirmer, the Kallmann Museum in Ismaning is hosting the exhibition “Lothar Schirmer Collection – Contemporary Art from Cy Twombly to Peter Handke.” On display is a representative selection from Schirmer's extraordinary collection, featuring around 100 works by 35 artists from the 18th to the 21st century. On display are paintings, photographs, drawings, and objects by Joseph Beuys, Cy Twombly, Cindy Sherman, Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Thomas Struth, Thomas Ruff, Cornelius Völker, Martin Assig, Wiebke Siem, and others. The exhibition highlights Schirmer's personal preferences and long-standing relationships with artists, with a particular focus on photography, drawing, contemporary painting, and sculpture.
