Björn Dahlem: Voyager
In his expansive installations, Dahlem transforms a wide variety of everyday objects and materials into poetic models of the world. Themes of astronomy, physics, psychology and philosophy are prevalent. Part of these visionary room installations are individual acrylic glass boxes standing in the room or protruding from the wall, reminiscent of museum display cases or reliquaries. Dahlem displays fragile sculptures in them.
What is the role and relationship of the individual to the whole? What do we believe in? Questions to which the artist also refers in his title. Followed by millions of people, the Voyager 1 space probe was launched into space in 1977. To this day, it remains the only man-made object to have made its way into the unprecedented depths of space.
