Following the first chapter, “Class Relations. Teachers, Students, Artists”, Kunsthaus NRW continues the exhibition project in 2026 with new works and perspectives. “Class Relations – Season Two” explores the world of the art academy through around 130 works from the museum’s collection and selected loans from the Academy Gallery of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Structured around the traditional artistic disciplines—from painting and sculpture to film, video, and performance—the exhibition traces artistic genealogies and the development of art schools in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1946. At its core are questions of artistic training, attitude, and the transmission of ideas across generations. The exhibition features works by, among others, Karin Kneffel, Thomas Ruff, and Thomas Schütte. The presentation is complemented by interventions in the sculpture garden as well as multimedia installations and performances.
