“Glory” is the title of Elif Saydam’s Edition for Various Others 2026 and of the solo show running in parallel at Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle. The new body of works reflect Saydam’s familiar expanded painting practice that incorporates elements of ornamentation and decoration, humor and socio-political critique to explore systems of social hierarchies and textures of everyday urban existence. Colorful painted trash cans encountered in the Turkish countryside are presented as evidence for painting as a site for projection of fantasy. For giving the Edition a unique touch, Elif engraved each glass of the framing with a handmade flower.
Saydam’s work has been recently exhibited at the 18th Istanbul Biennial, MIT List Projects in Cambridge and Kunsthal Thy in Denmark. They were awarded with this years Tiemann Prize in combination with an acquisition of six works by the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart in Berlin.
